Quake a reminder to be prepared: Queen Charlotte mayor

The Mayor of the Village of Queen Charlotte says he felt it.

Greg Martin says he wasn’t out of bed yet when a magnitude earthquake 6.1 struck 167 kilometres south of his community just before 7 a.m. this morning.

Although the quake didn’t cause damage or tsunami, Martin says it’s a reminder that earthquakes do happen.

Martin says part of the emergency preparedness is a tsunami siren in the village which was installed after the magnitude 7.7 quake that hit in 2012.
