After reviewing provincial regulations and available real estate, Quesnel City Council have decided to make some changes to their retail cannabis rules.
During an earlier meeting, councillors decided to allow one publicly owned retail store to be located in the City’s downtown core.
However, upon closer review of the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch’s rules, it was determined that very few available retail spaces in the core actually fit the bill.
Council went on to approve recommendations that they ammend the bylaw to allow a store to be located in the West Quesnel Business District.
Council must now adopt a new zoning policy to allow for the changes, determine a licensing fee, and develop procedures for a public review process.
