An increase in property crime in Quesnel has the City Council penning a letter to both the Federal and Provincial Governments.
The letter focuses on the recent spike in drug related property crimes and on the city’s inability to properly manage it with their current resources.
Some of the actions outlined in the letter include: ensuring a full 21 officer RCMP complement, an increase in provincial RCMP funding, timelier prosecution, short term addidtional prevention resources, and the ability to work with cabinet members to address addiction and mental health.
Currently, the city employs just 16 full-time RCMP officers.
