RCMP are hoping that the recovery of a vehicle from the Skeena River can help the investigation of a fatal crash that happened last fall.
The vehicle was west-bound when it left Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert September 15th.
A woman survived the crash but her young daughter was killed and the girl’s father, who was at the wheel, is believed to have been swept away.
Police divers were able to recover the vehicle near Telegraph Point Saturday when the tide and current were most favorable, although they found no trace of the driver.
Prince Rupert RCMP Constable Matt Ericson says there will be a full mechanical inspection of the vehicle as investigators continue to determine what caused the incident.
No names have been released.
