An attempt at avoiding a crash with wildlife may have resulted in a fatal collision on Highway 97 Monday morning near 103 Mile House.
RCMP say a south-bound Volkswagen Jetta had stopped in the travel portion of the highway when two bears entered the lane.
Investigators say at that point a Dodge pickup heading in the same direction collided with the car.
The man in the back of the Jetta was pronounced dead at the scene while the remaining two occupants of the car and those in the pickup were transported to hospital.
Police say the extent of the injuries ranged from minor to serious.
Investigators don’t believe speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.
No names are being released.
