354 athletes, 52 coaches, 27 managers and 22 mission staff proudly represented BC at the games.
For Team B.C it was a record setting year as they brought home 146 medals, which is the most medals Team BC has ever won at the games.
Team BC was second in medal standings behind Team Ontario who had 212 medals, and team Quebec finished in third place with 138 medals.
Lia Threlfall is the communications manager for Team BC and she says the athletes were very proud of what they achieved.
Therlfall adds it was nice seeing all the athletes come together at the games.
Many high-level athletes have launched their athletic careers through the BC Games and Team BC. 57 percent of Team BC at these Games were BC Games alumni and at the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, 30 Team BC alumni were part of Team Canada. 2008 and 2012 Olympic medallist in swimming, Ryan Cochrane (Victoria), was the Honorary Captain for Team BC and is an alumnus of the 2005 Canada Summer Games.
