The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine is among a number of communities being recognized by the province for climate leadership with new grants.
Local governments which take action to report and reduce their carbon footprint will now be eligible for the new Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program grants.
7 million dollars is available through the grant program for 2018, which refunds qualifying local governments 100 percent of the carbon taxes paid.
In total 45 local governments in BC are officially carbon neutral, with the Kitimat-Stikine being one of the most recent to achieve the target.
