Renovation leads to lifted height restriction on Salmon River Bridge

A height restriction has been lifted on the Highway 97 corridor north of Prince George.

The completion of the $24-million Salmon River Bridge Project has been finalized. The bridge, originally built in 1954, had overhead girders that limited the height of the vehicles.

The new bridge will have no height restrictions and will also feature wider lanes and greater load capacity.

Other improvements have been made to enhance the access and safety- such as sidewalks, an underpass for pedestrians and cyclists as well as a new rest area on the north side of the bridge with soon-to-be-installer toilet facilities.
