An inexperienced kayaker spent a cool night outdoors north of Prince George after his attempted paddle of a local river went wrong.
RCMP says the 25 year-old man was trying to kayak a stretch of the Salmon River Wednesday when he fell out of the open-hulled craft in the fast-flowing water.
He was reported overdue at 1:30 the next morning and search crews began looking for him around 5:00.
Mounties were notified at 7:30 that the man had returned home safe.
Police say the man couldn’t locate his vehicle after making it out of the water and walked all night to get home.
RCMP is reminding people that rivers and streams are running extremely fast with strong currents right now.
Mounties say even experienced outdoor enthusiasts should use extreme caution.
