Rushbrook Trail is being restored thanks to a lease agreement between a volunteer group and Prince Rupert.
The Kaien Island Trail Enhancement and Recreation Society says the trail is expected to be restored by the fall.
President of the society, Sean Carlson, says the main purpose to restore the trail is to make it safe for users again.
Project details will be released later on as the trail society finalizes the partners that will be involved in the process.
Carlson hopes the upgrading of the trail will allow the society to eventually connect Kaien Island with a safe and reliable network.
