SAR and Coast Guard called to medical emergency near Prince Rupert

Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue crews and the Canadian Coast Guard took on blustery wind and waves Thursday afternoon during a call for help near Prince Rupert.

RCMSAR 64 was called out to a fishing vessel for a crew member in need of immediate medical assistance shortly before 3:30.

The team assisted the Canadian Coast Guard crew already on scene at Squataree near Kinahan Islands.

Members nosed in their boat to the fishing vessel in 4-5 foot waves and 25 knot winds and were able to transfer the patient on a stretcher into their cabin.

The SAR team transported to the patient back to Prince Rupert where an ambulance was waiting.
