Second Nisga’a village joins NCLGA

The Gitlaxt’aamiks Village Government has become the second Nisga’a community to join a northern BC government advocacy group.
The North Central Local Government Association (NCLGA), a body which represents communities north of 100 Mile House, says it hopes to add even more First Nations to the fold.
NCLGA President Brian Frenkel says the association is looking to build a stronger voice for the region by reaching out to First Nations communities.
The Association advocates for northern BC issues at the provincial and federal levels.
NCLGA Executive Director Oliver Ray says all of northern BC needs to be on the same page, whether it’s industry, local government, or First Nations.
The Village of Gitwinksihlkw was the first Nisga’a community to join the NCLGA.
The association says there are seven other First Nations that qualify to join.
