A Terrace man, left with a permanent brain injury after his arrest my RCMP, has reached an out-of-court settlement with the force and the officer involved.
Robert Wright launched a lawsuit against the RCMP and Constable Brian Heideman in 2014 over injuries he received while in custody April 21st, 2012.
Video of the incident shows a handcuffed Wright being violently taken down to the floor of an RCMP cell and blood pooling near his head.
Wright was taken to Mills Memorial Hospital a number of times before he was transferred to the lower mainland for
Details of the settlement are being kept confidential, but Wright’s lawyer says the money will help him get the care he needs as he and his wife Heather Prisk start a new life in the Okanagan.
Constable Heideman is now stationed in Vernon.
