Seven new fires have been reported in the Cassiar fire zone since yesterday afternoon and are currently producing smoke visible from the highway.
The most concerning of the fires is a lightning caused blaze near Elbow Lake that is stretching for 5 hectares and described as out of control.
Three small fires have clustered together near Dease Lake, all less than a hectare in size.
A fire in the northeast corner of the fire zone is also less than a hectare in size.
The Tuya River fire has sprouted to 50 hectares in size, but crews are currently not taking action against it.
The Northwest Fire Centre will be responding to the new blazes in a priority sequence.
