Seven Terrace residents receive Bravery Award from Royal Canadian Humane Association

Seven Terrace residents were among 19 British Columbians honoured with the Royal Canadian Humane Association’s Bravery Award.

Roger Fehr, Kelly Gingles, Regan Kardas, Mitchell Peters, Brian Ward, Erik Brown, and James Giles were all honoured during a ceremony last Friday.

Fehr, Gingles, Kardas, Peters, and Ward received the prestigious honour for their efforts in rescuing a snowmobiler trapped in an avalanche.

The group was able to locate the man, trapped near the South Douglas Mountains, dig him out, and help him regain his breath, before digging out his vehicle.

Giles, a Terrace volunteer firefighter, was honoured for his part in rescuing a family of three from a burning building two years ago.

He had formerly received the Terrace medal of bravery for his efforts.

Finally, Brown took home his honour for assisting in the rescuing of a junior football team from a Thailand Cave this summer.
