Shane Gottfriedson has resigned as the BC regional chief of the British Columbia Assembly of First Nations.
A letter issued by the BC AFN today says his resignation comes at the end of his administrative leave.
It goes on to say the decision was made by Gottfriedson and the board of directors in the best interest of the BC AFN.
During Gottfriedson’s leave, Chief Maureen Chapman took over as acting regional chief and will continue in that role until the next election in 2018.
Gottfriedson was embroiled in controversy last December when he posted a social media picture with sexual undertones.
