Simon Fraser University is starting a course to help teachers teach about Indigenous cultures.
Indigenous Scholar Doctor Vicki Kelly says it was developed over a year ago when the Truth and Reconciliation report was released.
Doctor Kelly says the key for this program is to get the teachers a lot of hands on experience in Indigenous communities.
Paula Rosehart is an academic coordinator with the University. She says the program is expected to start by the fall.
The program is expected to take two years to complete. Both Kelly and Rosehart note the program will also be developed as the first group of students take the courses.
More on the program can be found here.
