Quesnel is another step closer to stabilizing primary healthcare services in the community.
That’s according to BC Health Minister Terry Lake who announced the location of the new Quesnel Primary Care Clinic Wednesday.
The facility will be set up on Front Street, across from GR Baker Memorial Hospital.
Two part-time doctors already set up in Quesnel will work out of the clinic once it’s operational, along with two recently recruited nurse practitioners.
They’ll will work with a team of mental health and addiction clinicians, pharmacists, dieticians, nurses, and home support staff.
Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson says the city will continue its efforts to recruit and retain health professionals and their families in the North Cariboo.
Northern Health says Quesnel residents will continue to get primary care through their doctor and emergency services at the hospital while the clinic is in development.
