Following last week’s reports of a pellet plant possibly coming to Terrace, Skeena Sawmills wants everyone to know nothing is official.
The city has been let down numerous times in the past and the company’s vice president of operations, Roger Keery wants to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
“We’ve been quite cautious about it because we’ve had several false starts,” says Keery, “we know other people in Terrace have announced these things with predictable repeatability and we don’t want to be accused of that.”
And while the company is cautiously optimistic regarding the project’s future, Keery says we may be waiting a while for an official announcement.
“We’re just proceeding,” Keery reiterates, “I think we’ll have some sort of official announcement at the point when we start digging holes in the ground.”
The company also stresses the importance of bringing a pellet plant to the city as disposal of extra lumber could lead to immense concerns in the near future.
