Smithers disinfecting water reservoirs

The town of Smithers is still struggling with a boil water advisory.

The town will now begin a substantial disinfectation of the two water reservoirs in town.

The chlorine they will use has been approved by Northern Health, but residents will notice an increase in chlorine in their water as well.

The Boil Water Notice will remain in effact while disinfectation is happeneing.

Residents are incouraged to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute and then let cool before using, or to use bottled water or an alternative approved source.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, food preparation/cooking as well as brushing your teeth.
