The Smither Regional Airport’s modernization project is taking the next step towards taking off.
The airport has issued a request for proposals to provide detailed design and engineering drawings, as well as contract administration services.
The $6-million modernization project will expand the terminal by 6,000 sq ft, and will include numerous upgrades to airport facilities.
The airport was originally built in the 1960s.
The modernization project is expected to start next April and is scheduled to be completed after two years.
