The Ministry of Environment and Climate change along with the Interior and Northern Health Authorities have amended the area the advisory covered due to changing smoke conditions.
The area will now include Prince George and then south into the Cariboo and down to the interior and southeast of the province.
Concentrations will vary as the winds, fire behaviour and temperatures change over the weekend.
Although it is the long weekend, officials are asking residents to be aware of their outdoor activities. If you are in an area affected by smoke you should avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
Contact your health provider if you are experiencing difficulty breathing, pain or discomfort in your chest or a sudden onset of a cough or irritation to the airways.
Infants and elderly are at higher risk, as is anyone with a pre-existing medical condition.
