Environment Canada has expanded snowfall warnings to the Chilcotin and the Bulkley Valley-Lakes regions.
Forecasters expect more snow to continue Saturday with up to 10 cm in and around Smithers and 20 cm closer to Fort St. James.
A snowfall warning continues for the inland sections of the North Coast. Environment Canada says an intense frontal system dropped over 20 cm of snow Friday night. That system will continue to dump snow Saturday.
The Kitimat region can expect another 20 to 30 cm of snow to hit the ground by Saturday night.
The Chilcotin will see little snowfall due to the shadowing effect of the Coastal Mountains. However, forecasters say the flow of moisture is so strong that it’s expected to spill over into western sections of the region producing snowfall of up to 20 cm.
All of that moisture will fall as rain closer to the coast. Rainfall warnings are in effect for coastal and inland sections of the Central Coast.
The regions can expect 60-100 mm of rain before things ease up Sunday morning.
