With Sockeye returns at the Tyee Test Fishery passing the 800 thousand threshold this weekend, the DFO are looking in to the future of recreational fishing.
According to Area Director Colin Masson, a recreational opening could be made available as early as August 7th.
Masson also says that, no matter the outcome, there would be some limitations in place to ensure attention remains on the Skeena Chinook conservation objectives.
The current estimate for Sockeye on the Skeena seems to be stabilizing at around 1.37 million total.
