The BC SPCA says it’s recommending animal cruelty charges after it seized 46 neglected dogs and puppies from a rural property north of Williams Lake.
Manager of Community Relations Lorie Chortyk says the American Eskimo, border collie, husky, and Samoyed crosses lacked shelter, had very poor sanitation, and inadequate veterinary care.
Chortyk says the dogs were highly unsocialized and extremely fearful of people.
Chortyk says the best case scenario will see the dogs rehabilitated to the point where they can be adopted.
However, she notes the animals will likely require very specialized guardians that understand that the dogs may never want to be touched or have close interaction.
