Officials are saying that wildfire evacuees could be responsible for an increase in crime and homelessness in Prince George.
Over the past 2 wildfire seasons, the city has taken in nearly 12 thousand evacuees, just over 10 percent of their population.
Now RCMP are saying a small percentage of those evacuees could be to blame for spikes in crime in the city over the past year.
Police claim they have identified many repeat offenders now living in the city that were formerly residents of wildfire neighbouring communities.
City officials say they have also seen a rise in mental addiction, drug use, and homeless people on the streets.
