Stewart business owner asks Terrace for help in border dispute

The former mayor of Stewart is asking for help lobbying the federal government to reverse a decision to close the Canada-U.S. border.

Angela Brand Danuser, a Stewart business owner, has written to Terrace Mayor Carol Leclerc outlining her concerns and asking for Terrace’s support.

Brand Danuser says locking the gate between Stewart and Hyder for 8 hours every night will pose a safety issue for those in the mining industry and will be a huge hit to the tourism economy of the entire region.

The letter is on tonight’s Terrace City Council meeting agenda.
