Stewart RCMP are reminding residents to be bear aware.
With winter around the corner, police say bears in the region are making their way back to the rivers to prepare.
The detachment is asking local residents to manage attractants like garbage and fruit trees to keep the bears from coming into town for an easy meal.
Report wildlife encounters to the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
The RCMP will respond to urgent wildlife cases, as there are no Conservation Officers based in Stewart.
