The District of Stewart has released more information about a boil water advisory announced Tuesday.
The municipal government says it took the action after recent tests showed the presence of Total Coliforms in multiple locations and varying amounts within the water system.
Officials say the bacteria are used as indicators of potential water contamination, but they stress that the boil water advisory is strictly a precautionary measure.
The district is advising residents to boil water for at least two minutes before it’s consumed, used for brushing teeth, or for food preparation.
Anyone experiencing vomiting or diarrhea should contact a doctor.
