The Level 3 drought issued earlier in the week has been continued and expanded across the BC coastline.
Level 3 is the second highest stage that can be declared by the Ministry of Forests and Lands and the highest since 2015.
Areas included in the drought now include the Stikine and Skeena-Nass, as they join the Central Coast, South Coast, Lower Fraser, Vancouver Island, Gulf Islands, and Haida Gwaii.
While level 3 is still a voluntary conservation level, if the situation gets any worse the Ministry can employ forced regulations, though they would prefer not to.
