While spring is around the corner, it still gets dark relatively early.
Kitimat RCMP say a couple of hikers became disoriented in the darkness last Wednesday while on the Coho Flats trail.
The pair were able to contact RCMP to say that they were stranded and unprepared for the elements or the dark.
Two Mounties were able to hike into the area, locate the men unharmed, and lead them out safely.
Police say the men had the forethought to have a charged though inactive cell phone with them. Phones without minutes or current plans can still dial 911.
Kitimat RCMP say the episode serves as a reminder to be prepared for the elements and weather even during short hiking trips.
