Terrace RCMP are reminding parents to talk to their children about the dangers of strangers following an incident last week.
Police say a child was walking home when she noticed a man following her and gesturing her to come to him.
She then called out to someone nearby and the man disappeared into nearby bushes.
In a release, Constable Crystal Evelyn says it’s good for children to know what to do if a stranger approaches.
Some tips include; going to an open business or any area with a lot of people. It’s also recommended for kids to yell or make noise if the person attempts to grab them and saying phrases like “this isn’t my parent.”
No other related incidents have been reported to police recently.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Terrace RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
