Unionized workers at Tolko’s Lakeview operation in Williams Lake are on strike.
Employees represented by the United Steelworkers Local 1-2017 set up pickets early Tuesday morning.
Steelworkers Vice President Paul French says the job action affects about 50 members and another 50 or so contract workers at the mill.
French says the union is ramping up job action as contract negotiations between the Steelworkers and the Council of Northern Interior Forest Industry Relations (CONIFER) remain at a standstill.
The union issued strike notice before the Thanksgiving long weekend and is in a legal strike position.
Meantime, talks between between the Steelworkers and the Interior Forest Labour Relations Association were scheduled to continue Tuesday.
