Strong wind made house fire difficult for Terrace firefighters

The Terrace Fire Department will be back at the scene of a house fire Wednesday as investigators try to determine the cause of the blaze.IMG_1758

Lieutenant Lawrence Stella says firefighters got the call to the 4600 block of Straume Avenue Tuesday at 4:30 and found flames well underway at the back of the home.

Stella says strong wind made the fire very stubborn for crews to tackle. The wind also caused the flames to spread to a neighbouring home leaving it with damage.

The Thornhill Volunteer Fire Department was called in to assist with a ladder truck and about a half dozen firefighters.

Stella says the residents in both homes were able to escape unharmed and no firefighters were injured.
