The BC Supreme Court has prohibited Taseko Mines Limited from starting a Fish Lake drilling program following a legal challenge by the Ts^ilhqot’in Nation.
Taseko had planned to begin drilling as early as next week, but will now be delayed until the Crown can consult with and accomodate the Ts^ilhqot’in Nation.
The drilling area is considered to be of great ceremonial and spiritual importance to the Nation, and the permit in question was approved on the last day of the outgoing government after being denied numerous times in the past.
