The Chief of the Tahltan Band is appealing to people to think before they post unconfirmed information to social media regarding fires burning near Telegraph Creek.
During his briefing earlier today (Tuesday) Chief Rick McLean urged people to wait for official updates to confirm details.
The BC Wildfire Service says fires burning in Tahltan territory are extremely volatile and changing by the hour.
Officials says more crews are moving into Telegraph creek to provide structural protection of the buildings that still remain.
The BC Wildfire service says 27 structures were lost to the Alkali Lake fire Monday night.
Chief McLean says more information about what has burned and what buildings remain in the community will be shared once band officials have a chance to meet.
