The Assembly of First Nations has appointed Regional Chief Terry Teegee to several AFN committees, including economic development and justice.
Teegee, who will also co-chair the National Fisheries Committee, says protecting and enhancing fish stocks for future generations will be essential if First Nations are to protect and defend their inherent right to fish.
In his first address to the AFN Chiefs-in-Assembly, Teegee warned of the crisis facing fisheries throughout First Nations territories, including his own.
The AFN Chiefs Committee on Economic Development will also have representation from the Northwest.
Teegee has appointed Chief Wilf Adam of the Lake Babine Nation as the BC Chief representative.
