Telkwa Mayor Darcy Repen is speaking up regarding what he believes are unrealistic insurance standards for his village.
Repen says that current dividing lines have Telkwa paying a premium for Prince George despite being more than 350 kms away.
The Mayor recently sent a letter to ICBC laying out a plan that would see them included in the much more realistic Smithers region instead.
According to Repen, however, the corporation seemed uninterested in actually addressing his concerns in subsequent responses.
ICBC says that they do not intend to review the boundry lines and that since location is just one of many factors that determine insurance premiums, they instead will focus on making sure insurance is sustainable over the long run.
