Canada Post’s plan to end door-to-door mail delivery is coming to Terrace and Kitimat.
The Crown Corporation says Terrace residents who have a postal code starting with V8G and Kitimat residents who have a code that starts with V8C are next in line for community mailboxes.
The change will see approximately 7,000 customers in the two communities get their mail from a community mailbox rather than having a Canada Post employee bring it to their door.
It’s part of the corporation’s 5-year plan to convert one-third of Canadian addresses that currently get service at the door.
Canada Post says as mail volumes decline, the move to community mailboxes is necessary to ensure that postal service will stay alive.
Terrace and Kitimat will see their services converted in 2016.
