Prince Rupert and Terrace are joining 63 other communities across BC by offering temporary cold weather shelters this winter.
With colder weather on the way, the shelters are set to open tomorrow in an effort to better protect those experiencing homelessness in the province.
Prince Rupert will see 25 spaces open at 328 3rd Avenue West, while Terrace will make 20 spaces available at 4444 Lakelse Avenue.
In total 14 hundred spaces are being made available province-wide thanks to partnerships between local governments and the province.
All temporary shelters will be open nightly and overnight, with some open 24/7, providing warm conditions and food for those in need this winter.
