Terrace banning open fires and restricting campfires

The City of Terrace has implemented a local ban on all open fires except for campfires.

City spokesman, Brian Doddridge, says the ban it’s to conform with the provincial fire ban.

In a statement, Doddridge says campfires are still allowed, but have been reduced in size from 1m by 1m to 0.5m by 0.5m.

It also notes the campfire must be cold to the touch before leaving, and at least 8 litres of water or a hand tool must be available by the fire.
