Terrace-based Bear Creek Contracting is suing Brucejack Gold Mine and its general contractor Rokstad Power for $14.5-million.
Bear Creek is alleging its work on transmission lines for the mine have gone unpaid and filed a civil claim at Terrace B.C. Supreme Court yesterday.
The company is filing for breach of contract, breach of trust and costs, and is also asking for punitive and aggravated damages.
Brucejack mine is a 100 kilometres north of Stewart and is owned by Pretium Exploration.
Bear Creek was contracted to build transmission tower foundations and alleges Pretium had provided “incomplete, misleading and preliminary design documents” forcing major changes to ensure the construction deadline was met.
The company says they weren’t fairly compensated despite construction being completed on time.
Bear Creek adds its operating capital has been drained, placing them with a significant financial burden that has led to lost business opportunities.
None of these allegations have been proven in court.
