A group of Terrace business and property owners plans to explore options to spruce up storefront canopies in a section of the downtown core.
The canopy infrastructure located along the 4600 block of Lakelse Avenue was built in 1983 with financial assistance from the City of Terrace.
But the local chamber of commerce and others have expressed a desire to revamp the canopies as well as the overall look of the avenue, including sidewalks.
A project committee of business owners with support from city staff is in the process of hiring a consultant to develop a conceptual design for a renewed canopy and recommendations for sidewalk improvements.
The project is expected to proceed over the next year and a half as the group finalizes a design and secures grants to offset costs.
The public will also have some input as the project moves forward.
