Terrace City Council took the time yesterday before their regular meeting to honour a longtime supporter of the community, Mo Takhar.
Takhar moved to Terrace with his family from Prince Rupert in 1970 to start Takhar Trucking, and has been a powerful member of the community since.
A city councilor from 1983 to 1993, and a 2006 recipient of the Order of Terrace, Takhar has made many contributions to the City of Terrace, including standing on numerous committees and donating nearly 20 thousand dollars to causes such as the Sportplex and REM Lee Hospital Foundation.
Takhar has also bolstered the economy with numerous businesses over the years and has been a strong supporter of the lumber and forestry industries in the north.
Many councilors shared their personal respect and admiration in an emotional goodbye.
Takhar and his family are moving to Vancouver to be closer to family.
