A Terrace low-income housing project is moving forward after the city approved rezoning and cleared the way for modular homes on Olson Avenue.
Council greenlighted the development being spearheaded by the Ksan House Society, by rezoning two properties to allow 50 modular units earlier this week.
There were some concerns brought forward during the public hearing, including the potential to negatively impact property values. There was also a number of people who supported the project due to its ability to help correct the shortfall in local, affordable housing.
Terrace mayor Carol Leclerc says while the project would provide 24 / 7 support for its tenants, she hopes renters will be able at some point to move into other rental accommodations in the city.
There is no time frame for the start of construction.
