The City of Terrace’s much rumoured Downtown Action Plan could be sneaking closer to fruition after a bylaw recieved first and second readings in Council yesterday.
Included in the plan are five fundamentals which include: completing the downtown, developing housing and community, ease of movement and gathering, making the downtown more green, and arts and culture.
There are also ten big moves highlighted in the plan which are more specific catalyst projects which create a more dynamic downtown and include things like gateways, gardens and trailheads, and creating gathering spaces.
The bylaws introduced to council yesterday alter existing bylaws to allow the urban design guidelines in the plan, and to merge two existing bylaws.
If all proceeds accordingly, a public hearing will be held on September 24th ahead of the third reading and adoption of the plan.
