Terrace City Council have voted in favour of renewing their curbside collection agreement with Recycle BC.
The new agreement would extend the program for 5 years with two optional one year extensions for Recycle BC.
A moderate fee increase to 35.40 per household is expected to increase city revenue from 135 thousand dollars to 143 thousand.
However, with contamination rates in the city jumping as high as 20 percent recently from their usual 8 percent, the plan would see some changes.
Under the new plan, curbside collectors will no longer accept single-use plastic bags as containers, bonus payments will be calculated for accepted material only, and changes to contamination rates would be applied.
Residents are reminded to check their service brochures and the MyWaste app or Recycle Coach to determine exactly which materials are recycleable.
Certain materials must be brought to approved collection sites and cannot be collected curbside.
