The City of Terrace is getting $4.3-million to renovate its Aquatic Centre.
The money comes from the federal Gas Tax Fund, which grants infrastructure funding to municipalities.
The renovations will be based on a plan developed in 2012 that will replace critical operating components, improve accessibility, create a new family changing room, and upgrade the gutter and drain systems.
The city hopes renovations can begin by the end of the year, and will require an extended shutdown of the aquatic centre.
The grant will cover 100% of the renovation costs.
If the city were to fund the renovations on its own, Terracites would have seen taxes go up 5% for seven years.
