It appears Terrace is still struggling when it comes to helping the homeless.
The community’s second annual homeless count took place last week and the numbers are up.
Mike Watson with the Terrace and District Community Services Society identified 74 homeless people this year compared to 64 last year.
Watson says 8 people did not want to fill out the survey form, 12 identified themselves as aboriginal females, 31 as aboriginal males, while others didn’t indicate whether they were aboriginal or non-aboriginal.
TDCSS is compiling a final report which will be presented to Terrace city council at a later date.
Watson says the hope is that council, in partnership with BC Housing, will be able to develop more affordable housing options for people.
