A Terrace man facing a second degree murder charge has been found not guilty in the murder of Eric Cardinal.
Stephens was found guilty of attempted murder and aggravated assault of Megan Belanger.
The charges stem, from an incident on Dobbie Street in Thornhill on September 14, 2013.
Police responded to the address and found Cardinal dead and Belanger injured. Both had been shot. The female was taken to Mills Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.
An extensive manhunt ensued and later that same day, police found Stephens’ pick-up on a forest serviced road in Kleanza Creek. The man hunt involved police, a dog and a helicopter which led to the capture of Stephens at eight that night.
Police said at the time both Stephens and Cardinal were known to police, Cardinal having an extensive record.
The jury in the case deliberated for three days before handing down their verdict.
Sentencing is expected in a couple of weeks.
